I saw a quick snip on CNN news this morning regarding the desperate need for supporting small businesses after this crazy covid year we've had. Today is in fact Small Business Saturday so why not buy someone a gift certificate for a much needed landscape design instead of the traditional big box gift card. My step dad, who is a horticulture specialist, has been landscaping for 30+ years and is literally the most talented landscape design specialist I know. And trust me when I say I'm not just pumping his ego because he'll never read this post... he doesn't have a computer or even a cell phone. He takes 'old school' to a whole new level. He is a one man show who drives around town in a dependable and reliable but beat up pick up truck. He never wanted a shop full of employees or the overhead that comes with it. His mind is his greatest asset and it's a good thing... Because at his age, the grunt work of shoveling barrels of soil and mulch have taken their tole on his physical body. It's time for him to transition. With the help of myself and his retired wife, we came up with a service he can offer that I feel is seriously needed! He offers a total DIY package. He will look at your existing conditions and design you a landscapes yard full of color that blooms all year and offers minimal maintenance on your end. That is what he specializes in. He will research the best place to get the materials needed for you to get the job done. He will draw you a nice napkin design (which his wife will turn into a pretty PDF and email to you), along with that list of plant materials needed and all costs associated. All this can be done without him stepping foot at your house. He just needs to see some photos. What a GREAT gift this would make for the new homeowner or your family member who has tons of time on their hands and would rather do the landscaping themselves. If you're anything like me, I just need someone to tell me 'what and how' and I can do it myself. Dave, of Landscapes Plus, will tell you what plant materials to use and how the design should look. Your neighbors will thank you. CLICK HERE to learn more about this service and purchase options. Click HERE to see all featured gifts in this series. Day 25 of the 30 gifts in 30 days
